Biography

Mark Bakowski joined Industrial Light & Magic in 2014 as the studio’s Compositing Supervisor on Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. After his contribution to the MCU canon, he went on to serve as the studio’s Visual Effects Supervisor on Spectre 007 (ILM’s first venture into the world of James Bond) and Marvel’s Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Mark began his career in visual effects in 2000 and has been credited on 40 films. Prior to joining ILM, Bakowski was the head of compositing at Framestore. His work on the hit film Gravity earned him a Visual Effects Society Award. Born in Leicester, Mark graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury with a BA in Film Studies. A father of two, Mark enjoys spending his free time with his family.

Analysis of 2 challenges (of many!) we faced in making the movie. How we put Sandra Bullock blindfolded and in the class 5 whitewater rapids and didn’t kill her…and also how we approached making a movie monster so terrible that if you look at it you kill yourself!
