WOLFRAM WORKSHOP PART 2: AI’s Impact on Education & the Workplace

Why AI is a Gamechanger for the Future of Education & the Workplace

Wednesday 15 May , 3.30pm – 5.00pm

Newcastle University Business School, 8th Floor, 5 Barrack Road, Newcastle upon Tyne
NE1 4SE

Join Conrad Wolfram, Co-Founder & CEO, Wolfram Research Europe and Founder of Computer-Based Math for a compelling session that explores how the rise of AI has revealed critical gaps in both higher education and the modern workplace—and what we can do about it.

At the heart of the issue is maths education: universally required, increasingly important, yet woefully outdated in the face of today’s technology-driven world. Conrad will break down why our current systems are falling short, how we can reimagine learning for the digital age, and how his team is pioneering a bold shift toward computational literacy for all.

This talk will also serve as a warning for other disciplines: if we don’t act now to reform how we teach and apply knowledge, we risk falling even further behind in the AI age.

We’ll cover:

  • Why the current educational model is misaligned with the real world
  • How technology and AI demand new skills—not just in maths, but across disciplines
  • The vision and impact of a reformed, computation-first curriculum
  • What “computational literacy” really means—and why it’s essential for everyone
  • How workplaces and institutions can prepare for this necessary transformation

The session will begin with a 20–25 minute talk followed by an open discussion with the audience.

(If you wish to take part in both Wolfram AI workshops, you’ll need to register for both.)
