AI and the Future of Data Science

Wednesday 20 May, 2.00pm – 5.00pm

Room 1.06 Learning Lab,The Henry Daysh Building, Claremont Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7RU

Generative AI is reshaping industries at pace: from software development to creative arts, gaming and beyond. Data science is no exception.

GenAI is particularly well-suited to the kind of rapid prototyping and exploratory work that sits at the heart of data science. But how do you actually use it effectively and how do you know when to trust it?

What we’ll cover

Working live with GenAI tools, we’ll explore and clean real data, build dashboards and run data science models while evaluating GenAI’s performance along the way.

We’ll close with our perspective on where Data Science is heading, opening up the conversation to the room.

Bring your laptop. While no prior coding experience needed, all levels of Python experience levels would be welcome.

What you’ll walk away with

– The confidence to build your own dashboards and data science models
– A practical, honest understanding of GenAI as a coding partner
– Hands-on experience you can apply from day one

This session is open to all whether you’re a seasoned data scientist curious about AI-assisted workflows, or someone with a high-level interest in GenAI & data science.
