Hassan Ugail

Professor Hassan Ugail is the Director of the Centre for Visual Computing at the University of Bradford. He is a renowned computer scientist in the area of visual computing and artificial intelligence. He has undertaken prominent work in the area of human biometrics, especially the development of cutting-edge AI solutions for biometric face recognition and analysis.

In 2018 he worked with Bellingcat, the Netherlands-based investigative journalism group, helping them unravel the real identity of the Russian spies who carried out the Salisbury Novichok poisoning of Sergei & Yulia Skripal. In 2020, Hassan worked with BBC reporters to help identify an alleged Nazi war criminal, who had settled in the UK and may have been protected from prosecution by MI6 as a former Cold War spy.
